After travelling to Sri Lanka and Turkey recently, I returned home overflowing with inspiration. The colours, the flavours, the atmosphere — each place offered something unforgettable. I wanted to bring a little of that magic back with me. So I did what I love most: I set the table, I cooked, and I welcomed people in.
I hosted two intimate events at home, each one themed around the country I had just visited. The Sri Lankan evening was particularly ambitious — it took a long time to set up, and I cooked everything myself — but seeing the guests’ reactions made it all worthwhile. They were blown away by the concept, the décor, and, of course, the food.
One comment really stayed with me:
“When you have a table laid properly and an amazing outdoor set-up such as this, in the way Sylvie organises it, it truly enhances the meal and makes it that much more of a special occasion.”
That really sums up what I hope to achieve through S Events Wales — turning a simple gathering into something memorable and meaningful. I believe that when you create a beautiful, immersive setting, it elevates the entire experience.
These events reaffirmed something I’ve always known deep down: this is what I truly love to do. Creating special spaces, bringing people together, telling a story through food and design — it’s hard work, but it brings me joy.
